The Yukon Royal Canadian Mounted Police welcomes new leadership to their ranks

The Commanding Officer, Chief Superintendent Scott Sheppard is proud to introduce the Yukon to two of its newest commanders, both of whom are not new to the Yukon. Staff Sergeant Jill McLaren is the newly appointed Acting Officer in Charge (Detachment Commander) of Whitehorse Detachment and Inspector Kent Langley is the new Officer in Charge of District Operations and Support Services.

Staff Sergeant Jill McLaren during her 20 plus years with RCMP has traveled across Canada and worked a variety of assignments, encompassing 11 different postings, from frontline constable to her current role as detachment commander. She is not new to the Yukon, nor to Whitehorse Detachment and the Major Crime Unit, before leaving in 2021 to Saskatchewan. She has Detachment Commander experience most recently in La Loche, Saskatchewan, and has worked in various areas including Major Crime, Training, and Commercial Crime across Saskatchewan, British Columbia and the Yukon.

Inspector Kent Langley has 33 years of service and has also traveled across Canada and beyond working in assignment from air to sea, such as the Canadian Air Carrier Protection Program and the Marine Security Enforcement Team. Inspector Langley has worked in British Columbia, Ontario, the Yukon and served in Africa with the United Nations Mission in Sudan. He has previously served in the Yukon as the Detachment Commander of Watson Lake Detachment, and several positions in the Yukon RCMP headquarters, such as the Professional Responsibility Unit and Criminal Operations. After acting in his current role for several months, Inspector Langley was recently commissioned.
