On January 2, 2024, between 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm an incident occurred in the parking lot behind the CIBC building. The Iqaluit RCMP were seeking witnesses for the incident.
On January 10, 2024, a male (47) was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Sec. 87(2), Pointing a Firearm;
- Sec. 88(2), Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose;
- Sec. 267(a), Assault with Weapon; and
- Sec. 264.1(1), Uttering Threats.
The male will appear in the Nunavut Court of Justice on February 15, 2024 in Iqaluit.
