Iqaluit Impaired Driving Enforcement April 5-7

From April 5-7, 2024, Iqaluit RCMP and Iqaluit Municipal Enforcement did an increased level of traffic enforcement, checking for impaired drivers and dangerous/aggressive drivers.

The following is a result of these increased traffic enforcements:

- Three charges for impaired driving offences, their vehicles were seized and impounded;
- Seven driver's breath samples were between 0.05-0.08 BAC, their licences were suspended for 24-hours;
- One driver's breath sample was between 0.05-0.08 BAC, their licence was suspended for 30-days, due to having a previous suspension;
- One 24-hour suspension for being impaired by drugs;
- One 24-hour suspension for being impaired by drugs and alcohol;
- One 24-hour suspension for fatigue.

Remember, impaired driving doesn't just apply to cars – it also applies to motorcycles, boats, ATV's, snowmobiles and other forms of transportation. Everyone has a role to play to help keep our roads safe. To report an impaired driver please call 979-1111.
