Craik RCMP in conjunction with Saskatchewan Public Safety, have determined that the fatal house fire that took place on February 18, 2024 in Davidson, Saskatchewan was non-suspicious in nature.

Saskatchewan RCMP General Investigations and Forensic Identification Sections also assisted. The police investigation is now complete and no further updates will be provided.

Backgrounder

Craik RCMP respond to fatal house fire

2024-02-19

At approximately 12:30 p.m. on February 18, 2024, Craik RCMP received a report of a house fire on Ottawa Street in Davidson, Saskatchewan.

Members attended the scene immediately where the Davidson Fire Department was already responding and discovered the residence in flames. Several people were inside the home at the time of the fire.

An 80-year-old male and 81-year-old female were removed from the house and transported to Davidson Hospital where they were pronounced deceased.

Once the fire was extinguished, the remains of three children were found inside the home. Autopsies for all five individuals are anticipated to take place in Saskatoon this week.

RCMP held the scene overnight and at this time the investigation, which includes determining the circumstances of the fire, remains ongoing.

The investigation is being assisted by the Davidson Fire Department, Saskatoon Coroners Service, and Saskatchewan Public Safety. Updates will be provided as they become available.
