On September 25, 2023, as a result of an investigation carried out by RCMP 'V' Division Specialized Investigative Team (SIT), Samuel Tagalik, 30, a teacher's aide at the Nakasuk School, was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- Section 153, Sexual Exploitation;
- Section 152, Invitation to Sexual Touching;
- Section 172.1(1), Luring; and
- Section 163.1(4), Possession of Child Pornography.
Investigators are looking into historical incidents believed to have occurred in 2018, involving former students.
Tagalik's next court appearance is scheduled for October 30, 2023 in Iqaluit.
