News release

On February 16, 2022 at approximately 2:30 PM, RCMP Depot Division administration was advised of an incident at the National Armoury. Rounds had inadvertently breached the exterior wall of the test range during a routine session.

Preliminary information indicates that the rounds leaving the building struck two parked vehicles, one of which was occupied at the time. No injuries have been reported and support is being provided to those involved.

The RCMP Academy is within the jurisdiction of the Regina Police Service and so they have been called in to investigate the incident. Occupational Health and Safety has also been engaged and will be looking into the matter.

The National Armoury is located on base at the RCMP Academy, Depot Division, in Regina, however is separate from the firearms ranges used by the Cadet Training Program.

Safety of all those working and training at the RCMP Academy is of the utmost importance. We are fully committed to continued work with our partners to further the investigation.

This is very early on in the investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.
