34-year-old man sentenced to four and a half years in prison following series of break and enter incidents

A 34-year-old man from Saint-Édouard-de-Kent, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison following a series of break and enter incidents in Moncton and Upper Coverdale, N.B.

Between February 6 and 7, members of the Codiac Regional RCMP and Southeast District RCMP responded to numerous reports of break and enters, attempted break and enters, and thefts in the Moncton and Upper Coverdale areas.

Following a subsequent investigation, police issued a warrant of arrest for a man in connection with the break, enters and thefts. On April 8, the Codiac Regional RCMP arrested a 34-year-old man at the scene of a break and enter in progress.

On May 27, Denis Marc Savoie appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with 22 offences. He was remanded into custody.

On August 15, he returned to court and was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.

"Incidents like these have a serious impact on our communities and their sense of security," says S/Sgt. Dave MacDonnell with the Codiac Regional RCMP.
