Ottawa, Ontario

Statement

I am writing to provide you with a status update on the historical health and safety concerns identified at the RCMP training facility in Kemptville, ON.

As noted in my last update in March 2021, we have acquired the services of a third-party environmental consultant to validate the RCMP's internal environmental review. A leader in Occupational Health and Safety, this team of professionals have the required knowledge, experience and accreditation to perform a careful analysis of the hazards present at the site and quantify any potential risk of historical exposures.

The environmental review and analysis of the former RCMP training facility in Kemptville is viewed as a priority and is nearing completion. We are currently consulting Health Canada as the public service authority for occupational health on the report produced by the consultant. We will then consult our internal stakeholders such as our National Health and Safety Policy Committee(s).

We have heard from many of you that have attended the facility either as instructors, participants, or staff members. If you attended the Canada Training Centre in Kemptville, Ontario in your capacity at the RCMP, and have not yet reached out please contact the RCMP Occupational Health and Safety by e-mail at: Kemptvilletraining_formationKemptville@rcmp-grc.gc.ca in order to receive further instructions.

Your health and safety is our main concern and we will continue to keep you informed on this important matter.
