We are all gripped with Covid-19 and the extraordinary circumstances the world finds itself in with this pandemic. We all face the worry of the impacts on our families and our communities.

One thing we want you to be sure of is that the mandate of the RCMP has not changed – our priority is to maintain public safety. We have multiple measures in place to deal with health emergencies such as Covid-19.

Our Health Emergency Operations Plan, led by Chief Superintendent Garrett Woolsey and senior officers, has been implemented for all RCMP NL Detachments and Headquarters.

This plan ensures we remain equipped to deliver priority policing services throughout the province. Our police officers are working and responding to calls. As usual, non-urgent matters will be responded to when possible.

Emergency Operations Centre is open and supports RCMP operations throughout the province on all matters relating to Covid-19.

We continue to work closely with our provincial and national health and emergency partners to ensure an informed and coordinated response to Covid-19.

We are ensuring our police officers have the supplies, including personal protective equipment such as respirator masks, and the information they need should they encounter individuals with symptoms of Covid-19.

If you need to contact us, please call your local Detachment rather than visiting in person. As always, call 911 for emergencies only.

Let's ensure we follow the directions of our public health officials to "flatten the curve." We are in this together and must do all we can to limit the spread of Covid-19.

Take care and be safe.
