Update - Wasagaming RCMP respond to fatal structure fire

The body of one individual was located in the residence and was transported to Winnipeg for an autopsy. The autopsy was conducted Tuesday, February 18th and positively identified the individual as the resident and lone occupant of the home, a 74 year old male. The cause of death does not appear to be suspicious.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.


On February 14, 2020, at approximately 5:40 am, the Wasagaming RCMP responded to a report of a structure fire located at a residence in the community of Newdale, Manitoba.

Once the fire was brought under control and extinguished, firefighters entered the structure and located unidentified human remains. No other injuries were reported.

The Wasagaming RCMP along with the Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate
