Update: Fort Macleod RCMP investigate serious collision on Highway 3 - suspect apprehended

Fort Macleod RCMP advised that on Dec. 22, 2019 at 9:30 a.m., a 19-year-old male turned himself in to police.

He was involved in a serious collision resulting in the death of the passenger in the vehicle on Dec. 15, 2019.

He has been charged with:

Dangerous driving causing death.

Fail to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.

He is currently in custody and is being held for a justice interim release hearing. The court date is yet to be determined.

Ft. Macleod RCMP investigate serious collision on Highway 3 – Update

As a result of the Fort Macleod RCMP's investigation into the Dec. 15, 2019, fatal collision where a 19-year-old passenger was found deceased, the following charges have been laid against another 19-year-old male of Glenwood, Alta:

Dangerous driving causing death.

Fail to remain at the scene of an accident resulting in death.

Operation of a motor vehicle while prohibited.

The whereabouts of the male are unknown and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.

On Dec. 15, 2019 at approximately 2:40 a.m., Ft. Macleod RCMP came upon a fatal collision involving a small car on Highway 3 in the town of Ft. Macleod.

flow will be controlled while the collision is being investigated. While the investigation continues, RCMP ask that motorists avoid or detour around the area.

Ft. Macleod RCMP continue to investigate. It is anticipated that traffic flow will return to normal later this morning.
