Two people charged for stealing cigarettes

On March 6, Lunenburg District RCMP responded to a complaint that nearly $2500.00 worth of cigarettes had been stolen from a service station in the Town of Lunenburg. The suspect removed a case of cigarettes from a storage room and the event was recorded on surveillance video.

Lunenburg District RCMP conducted an investigation which resulted in police obtaining a search warrant for a home in Western Shore on March 9. Police recovered a quantity of the stolen cigarettes during the search. The RCMP arrested a 64-year-old man and a 36-year-old man during the search. Both males are from Western Shore.

The two men were released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on May 27. They are both facing charges of Theft Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
