Two Marystown men charged for break and enter into JJ Billiards and Lounge; RCMP recover the cash

Two Marystown men are remanded into custody following a break and enter at JJ Billiards and Lounge in Burin that happened during the early morning hours yesterday.

At approximately 1:40 a.m., Burin Peninsula RCMP were dispatched to an alarm at the business.

Officers responded immediately and as one officer attended the business to check the alarm, a second observed a vehicle in the community of Burin, traveling away from the direction of the business. A traffic stop was conducted and the officer observed items in the vehicle in plain view consistent with tools used to commit a break-in.

At the same time, the other officer confirmed that the business was broken into and subsequently, the two occupants of the vehicle, 32-year-old Anthony Farrell and 33-year-old Shane Murphy, were arrested for possession of break-in tools and were searched. Officers recovered over $4000 cash from the men, seized the vehicle and found further evidence of the break and enter.

The two men were held in police custody and attended court yesterday to face charges of break and enter, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of break-in tools and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence. y remain in custody and are scheduled to attend court again in Grand Bank on January 15, 2020.
