Stephenville Crossing man faces impaired driving charges following tip from public

Bay St. George RCMP removed an impaired driver from the roadway following an impaired driving complaint in Stephenville.

At approximately 11:30 p.m., on March 20, 2020, police received a report of a suspected impaired driver in Stephenville. The vehicle was located parked on Ohio Drive. Police conducted a traffic stop and the driver was found in the driver's seat and was suspected to be impaired. The 38-year-old Stephenville Crossing man failed a road side breath test, was arrested and transported back to the detachment where he provided breath samples over the legal limit. The man's licence was suspended and his vehicle was seized and impounded. He was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
