The community of Black Lake, Sask., held its annual winter carnival from February 24 to March 2, 2020. Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services attended the event to assist with traffic enforcement and to keep roads safe during this important community event.

Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services issued 60 traffic tickets, 83 warning tickets and 3 inspection tickets during this event. Five vehicles were impounded as a result of offences under the Traffic Safety Act. Officers arrested two male drivers for alcohol-impaired driving.

Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services administered 26 Approved Screening Device (ASD) demands to drivers. Two readings resulted in a "Warn" and two others resulted in a "Fail". The drivers who received those readings had their driver's license suspended and their vehicles towed.

Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic Services will continue to work diligently to make our roads and communities safe. We need the help of the public in achieving this goal and we thank the public for their support and cooperation. We encourage anyone who witnesses impaired driving or aggressive driving to phone their local RCMP detachment or 911.
