Redwater RCMP investigate fatal collision with train

One man is deceased following a collision, that occurred very early this morning, with a train.

At 12:15 a.m., RCMP responded to a call that an SUV travelling northbound on Range Road 223 collided with a train that was actively in the crossing. The SUV failed to stop in time, and the driver's side of the SUV struck the train.

A 35-year-old male passenger of the vehicle managed to get out of the vehicle and remove himself to safety. The vehicle caught fire following the collision. The driver was determined to be deceased.

RCMP are actively investigating and confirming the identification of the driver. Charges are not anticipated, and an update is not expected.
