RCMP Academy’s response to COVID-19

March 19, 2020
Regina, Saskatchewan

News release

We can confirm that as of this afternoon, there are no presumptive or confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the RCMP Academy.

RCMP Depot Division continues to work closely with provincial and national health agencies to monitor and respond to the situation. All options are under consideration at this time, including the suspension of training. Any decision will be made in consultation with those authorities.

As an emergency response agency, we have protocols and procedures that deal with these types of health situations. We are continually assessing those processes and ensuring our continuity plans are updated and in place.

In order to slow the spread of COVID-19, the RCMP Academy is taking, or has taken, the following measures.

Public events

The RCMP Academy has been closed to visitors since Friday, March 13.

All public events at the RCMP Academy have been postponed. This includes the RCMP Charity Ball, the YQR VetRun, and all tours and visits.

Employees

Employees who can work from home have been encouraged to do so.

All fitness facilities and the Division Mess have been closed to employees in order to minimize contact with cadets.
