Mayerthorpe RCMP investigate shooting in industrial area of Highway 43

On Feb. 4, 2020, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Mayerthorpe RCMP received a call of a shooting that had occurred in the industrial area of Highway 43 and 50 Street in Mayerthorpe, Alta.

A semi-tractor driver and lone occupant, a 50-year-old male from Sangudo, Alta., was parked and seated in his semi-tractor when an unknown suspect(s) shot at the semi-tractor and then fled. The driver of the semi-tractor was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries as a result of the shooting. He remains in hospital in serious but stable condition.

The suspect vehicle is believed to be a dark colored Dodge Ram pick-up truck.

The Mayerthorpe RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Forensic Identification Services, are investigating this incident.
