Around 11:20 a.m. on December 31, 2019, a Bay Roberts RCMP officer was conducting radar enforcement in the community of Makinsons when he observed a vehicle travelling at 109 km/h. The area is a posted 50 km/h zone.
A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was ticketed for travelling over 51 km/h above the posted speed limit. The man's licence was suspended for seven days and his vehicle towed and impounded for three days.
