Iqaluit man arrested in connection with armed robbery

On February 22, 2020 at approximately 7:12 p.m., Iqaluit RCMP responded to an armed robbery at the Quickstop KFC in Iqaluit. A man armed with a weapon entered the store and demanded money from the clerks and then fled the area on foot. Fortunately, no one was hurt or injured and the Police were called immediately.

During the course of the investigation a suspect was identified and on February 24, 2020, the suspect was arrested without incident on an unrelated matter. 23-year-old Michael Cooper-Flaherty of Iqaluit was subsequently charged with robbery and several other criminal code offenses. He appeared before a Justice of the Peace on February 25, 2020, and was denied bail and remanded into custody. His next scheduled court appearance is March 3, 2020, at the Nunavut Court of Justice.
