Grande Prairie RCMP crime reduction efforts continue to yield positive results

On Feb. 13, 2020 at approximately 4:30 a.m., the Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) was conducting patrols in Clairmont when they observed a suspicious vehicle with three male occupants parked at the Clairmont Esso Station. The vehicle had a broken side window and the driver door handle had been removed. Several tools were also noted in the vehicle.

Police determined through investigation that the vehicle was not stolen; however, occupants of the vehicle were breaching release conditions. All three occupants were subsequently arrested without incident.

Police conducted a search of the occupants incidental to arrest. A 37-year-old male had a substantial amount of Canadian currency, two cell phones and a bag containing one ounce of crystal methamphetamine seized. A spring loaded knife and cell phone were seized from one of the passengers, a 49-year-old male. On the second passenger, a 52-year-old male, police seized Canadian currency, 7 grams of hard fentanyl powder, a half gram of methamphetamine and multiple dime bags for resale and packaging of drugs. Several gas cards for various persons were located on the 52-year-old male and inside the vehicle.

The 37-year-old male of Grande Prairie, has been charged with Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x 2 (methamphetamine and fentanyl), proceeds of crime, fail to comply with release conditions x 8 and possession of stolen property under $5000 x 5. He was remanded in custody to appear in Grande Prairie provincial court February 19, 2020.

The 49-year-old male, has been charged with Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x 2 (methamphetamine and fentanyl), proceeds of crime, fail to comply with release conditions x 6, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of stolen property under $5000 x 5. He was remanded in custody to appear in Grande Prairie provincial court February 19, 2020.

The 52-year-old male of Grande Prairie, has been charged with Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking x 2 (methamphetamine and fentanyl), proceeds of crime, fail to comply with release conditions, and possession of stolen property under $5000 x 5. He was released from custody to appear in Grande Prairie provincial court February 19, 2020.
