Operating a vehicle with no insurance carries a fine of $2600 to $3900

On February 11, 2020, following a traffic stop on Main Street in Stephenville, RCMP ticketed a 30-year-old man, from Nova Scotia, under the Highway Traffic Act for operating a vehicle with no valid insurance. The vehicle was seized and impounded.

The first offence for operating a vehicle with no insurance carries a fine of $2600 and six demerit points. A second or third offence carries a fine of $3900 and six demerit points.

Stephenville RCMP reminds motorists that officers have the ability to check the validity of the insurance card provided and remains committed to the enforcement of public safety.
