Wood Buffalo RCMP investigate suspicious death near Tower Road – Update 1

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit along with Wood Buffalo RCMP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deceased adult male that was located near Tower Road on Nov. 11, 2019.

The deceased male has been identified as Mahmudul Hasan Chowdhury (26) of Calgary. RCMP would like to speak with anyone that was in contact with Mahmudul or saw him prior to Nov. 11, 2019 in Fort McMurray or other locations throughout Alberta.

Mahmudul is described as:

  • East Indian
  • 5'4"
  • 119 lbs

An autopsy was conducted today at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton and results are pending.

RCMP continue to ask anyone who may have travelled on Tower Road between the evening of Nov. 10 to the morning of Nov. 11, 2019 to contact them. Police are interested in obtaining all video including dash cameras and trail cameras from Tower Road over this time period.

Wood Buffalo RCMP investigate suspicious death near Tower Road

On Nov. 11, 2019 at approximately 7:30 a.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP responded to a report of a human body located near Tower Road. Police arrived and located a deceased adult male.

Police are asking for anyone who may have travelled on Tower Road between the evening of Nov. 10 to the morning of Nov. 11, 2019 to contact them. Police are interested in obtaining all video including dash cameras and trail cameras from Tower Road over this time period.

The investigation is in its preliminary stages as police process the scene. An autopsy will be conducted at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton later this week. The RCMP Major Crimes Unit along with Wood Buffalo RCMP continue to investigate.
