Woman arrested after a firearm was discharged at first responders

A woman has been arrested by Codiac Regional RCMP after a firearm was discharged at first responders in Dieppe, N.B.

At approximately 2:25 p.m. on January 5, 2019, firefighters, paramedics and police responded to a single motor vehicle crash where a car went off the road on Adélard-Savoie Boulevard. Upon arrival the first responders were fired upon by a woman at the crash scene.

The scene was closed off to traffic in order to ensure the safety of first responders and the public. None of the first responders were injured.

After approximately 45 minutes the woman was taken into police custody. She was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries sustained during her arrest.

Roads in the area will remain closed to allow police to conduct their investigation.

The investigation is ongoing.
