Whitehorse man charged with sexual assault

On December 14, 2019, at 11:24 am, Whitehorse RCMP responded to a complaint of an assault in progress on Second Avenue in Whitehorse, YT. An adult female victim was reportedly assaulted by an unknown male suspect. Fortunately, a witness was able to render assistance to the victim and held the suspect until police arrived to effect an arrest.

Subsequent to the ongoing investigation, police have charged 28-year old Dakota McLeod of Whitehorse with sexual assault, assault, overcoming resistance to the commission of an indictable offence, and failure to comply with the condition of an undertaking.

McLeod is currently being held in custody and scheduled to appear in court on January 13, 2020.
