Whitecourt RCMP charge numerous persons for drug trafficking offences

From June to July 2019 the Whitecourt General Investigation Section (GIS) in conjunction with the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) engaged in an intelligence led project targeting activities of local street level drug traffickers.

As a result of the project, 31 Criminal Code or Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charges were laid against nine people. The persons charged are as follows:

28-year-old male:

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine (X 3)

18-year-old male:

  • Trafficking Cocaine

40-year-old male:

  • Trafficking Cocaine (X 2)
  • Possession of Fentanyl
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime

19-year-old male:

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Ecstasy
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime

39-year-old female:

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime

26-year-old male:

  • Trafficking Cocaine

23-year-old female:

  • Trafficking Cocaine

27-year-old-male:

  • Trafficking Methamphetamine (X 3)
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Fentanyl
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (X 2)
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon while Prohibited (X 4)

43-year-old male:

  • Trafficking Cocaine (X 3)
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime

The 27-year-old male has been held in custody, and the 43-year-old male has been released on cash bail, with the remainder being released on no-cash bail.

The 26-year-old male and the 28-year-old male remain at large on outstanding warrants.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be provided.
