Westlock RCMP arrest two after flight from police

On July 16, 2019 at approximately 12 p.m., Westlock RCMP responded to a report of a van being stolen in Westlock.

The van was located on Highway 18 and a short pursuit ensued but was terminated due to public safety. The van was located again a short time later on Highway 776.

Co-ordination between Westlock RCMP, Barrhead RCMP, RCMP Police Dog Services and the Westlock Integrated Traffic Unit led to a successful deployment of a spike belt on a gravel road.

Two occupants were arrested without incident and taken into custody.

A 24-year-old female of Westlock was charged with possession of property obtained by crime (x3) and flight from police.

A 22-year-old male of Springbrook was charged with possession of property obtained by crime (x3) and breach of probation.

Both of the accused were released after judicial hearings and will be appearing in Westlock provincial court on July 31, 2019.
