Update: Search efforts to continue at Mistastin Lake this week

On Saturday, July 27, the RCMP team of divers and investigators pulled out from Mistastin Lake, after being at the site since Friday, July 19. Their search efforts resulted in the location of the body of the fourth victim of the plane crash, a 50-year-old man from Newfoundland and Labrador. Three occupants of the plane remain missing. The plane's fuselage has not been located.

Members of the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team and the Fleet Dive Unit (Atlantic) will go to the site tomorrow, with military assistance also including the following specialized equipment:

  • Seabotix Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), a portable underwater inspection device
  • Klein Side Scan Sonar
  • Deep Trekker, a robust deep-water ROV
  • Remus 100 – Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) with advanced tracking systems
