Update: Impaired charges upgraded following victim’s death

Kings District RCMP has upgraded impaired charges against a driver involved in a collision that occurred on August 15 on English Mountain Rd. in Coldbrook following the victim's death.

At 6:45 p.m. on August 15, Kings District RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision on English Mountain Rd. Police arrived on scene and located an injured man trapped in a damaged truck and a second truck was on fire. The victim, an 84-year-old man from Coldbrook, was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and has since passed away.

Shawn David Hart, 28, from Cambridge, has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death, Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, and Operation of a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Level Over 80 mg%. He is scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on October 8, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
