Officers have determined that the pickup truck, being driven by a 75-year-old male with a 65-year-old female passenger, both from the RM of Headingley, was eastbound on Roblin Blvd. when it was struck by the northbound train.
Both the male driver and female passenger were pronounced deceased on scene.

At approximately 4:20 pm, Headingley RCMP responded to a collision between a train and a vehicle. At this time, it appears that a northbound train struck a vehicle on Roblin Blvd. between Alboro St. and Highway 334.
The impact caused the vehicle to be pushed along the tracks onto the train bridge over the Assiniboine River. The Winnipeg Paramedic and Fire Service Water Rescue Unit is on scene for the safety of rescue workers.
Roblin Blvd. is closed between Alboro Street and Highway 334. Highway 334 is closed between Keough Ave. and Roblin Blvd. Officers and emergency services personnel will be on scene for an extended period of time. Motorists are asked to avoid the area. Detours are in place.
The RCMP is being assisted by CP Police, WFPS and EMS personnel.
