Two men, one youth charged with fraud

Two men and one youth from Quebec have been charged in connection with an investigation into a series of frauds across New Brunswick.

The RCMP and Fredericton Police Force have been investigating at least seven incidents of fraudulent purchases in the Fredericton, Woodstock and Moncton area between July 22 and July 26, 2019. The incidents include purchases of lodging and jewellery using fraudulent credit cards and fake identification. In some incidents, the suspects attempted to make purchases but they were declined.

Two men and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on July 26 in Moncton. All three are from Laval, Q.C. The teen appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on July 29 and was released on conditions pending a court appearance on September 10, 2019. The two men, 19-year-old Jamal Ibrahim and 18-year-old Haitam Samdi appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on July 30 and were remanded into custody. Both men are scheduled to return to court in Moncton on August 13, 2019.

The investigation is continuing.

Anyone who may have had business interactions with the accused, who experienced similar incidents of fraud, or who may have information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact their local police.
