Two men charged following a break and enter

Two men have been arrested and charged following a break and enter at a residence on the Esgenoôpetitj First Nation.

Twenty-four-year-old Dylan Dedam and 29-year-old Gitjpeson MacKenzie Martin appeared in Miramichi Provincial Court on October 16, 2019. Both men have been charged with breaking and entering into a residence, being unlawfully in a dwelling house, obstructing enjoyment of property and trespassing at night.

The charges stem from a break and enter that occurred at home on the Esgenoôpetitj First Nation on October 10. Both suspects were arrested by the Tracadie RCMP the following day. They had been held in custody on arrest warrants that had previously been issued for unrelated matters.

Both men have been remanded into custody. Gitjpeson MacKenzie Martin is schedule to return to Miramichi Provincial Court on October 17. Dylan Dedam is scheduled to return to court on October 28.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
