Correction: the date of the incident was incorrect in a previous news release. We apologize for this error

The Sussex RCMP is asking for the public's help locating a driver following a single-vehicle collision in Roachville, N.B.

Shortly before 7 p.m. on August 21, 2019, RCMP members were called to Highway 10, just outside of Roachville. It is believed a transport truck hauling forestry equipment came into contact with power lines, after failing to lower the boom on the equipment, pulling the lines to the ground.

Witnesses say the driver of the transport truck initially pulled over but then fled the scene prior to the arrival of emergency vehicles. The power lines, telephone lines and poles sustained substantial damage. As a precaution, Highway 10 closed for several hours.

Anyone who was in the area at the time, or who has information about the truck or driver involved, is asked to contact the Sussex RCMP at 506-433-7700. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.crimenb.ca.
