Thompson RCMP respond to found human remains

On October 2, 2019, at 10:00 am, officers from the Thompson RCMP Detachment responded to a call of possible human remains located near Cauchon Lake, which is situated approximately 90 kilometres southeast of Thompson.

Officers were advised that a group of hunters located multiple bones in the remote area.

The investigation of the remains has been completed and it was determined that the bones are archaeological in nature.

Arrangements are currently underway with local First Nations and the provincial Historic Resources Branch to repatriate the bones through a proper burial.
