Stunting driver charged: 63 km/hr over the speed limit

On December 21 at 12:34 p.m., a member of Kingston RCMP was on patrol on Hwy. 101 when they observed a westbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The RADAR was activated and the speed measured at 163 km/h, 63 km/hr over the posted speed limit of 100 km/hr. The RCMP officer activated the emergency equipment on the police vehicle and stopped the target vehicle.

The 23-year-old male driver from Dartmouth was served a Summary Offence Ticket for Stunting. The vehicle was seized and impounded under the authority of the Motor Vehicle Act. The fine for stunting in Nova Scotia is $2,422.50. The RCMP want to remind the public that speed is one of the major causes of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road Safety is a priority for the RCMP, and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well.
