St. Paul RCMP and EADRCRU intercept vehicle - Arrest four with stolen property

On Jan. 15, 2019, St. Paul RCMP along with the Eastern Alberta District Rural Crime Reduction Unit (EADRCRU) intercepted a vehicle that was returning to Saddle Lake with stolen property from Vermilion.

Three individuals were arrested without incident and the fourth individual was apprehended following a short foot chase. Police recovered several stolen items from Vermilion which included a truck, a trailer, and two snowmobiles.

A 22-year-old male, a 40-year-old male, and a 47-year-old male of Saddle Lake were each charged with the four counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. The 22-year-old is facing additional charges of failing to comply with probation and obstructing a peace officer. The 40-year-old is also facing an additional charge of obstructing a peace officer.

The 47-year-old was also arrested on an outstanding warrant from Bonnyville, in which he faces charges for breaking and entering, possession of property obtained by crime, theft, and mischief.

All three accused were released by a Justice following a judicial hearing and are scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on Jan. 31, 2019. The 47-year-old male is also scheduled to appear in Bonnyville Provincial Court on Feb. 5, 2019 in relation to his outstanding warrant.

A 14-year-old male from Saddle Lake, who cannot be named due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is also facing four charges of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in St. Paul Provincial Court on Jan. 21, 2019.
