Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Team recover stolen truck and arrest two individuals

On April 12, 2019, the Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Team (SADCRT) located and arrested an adult male and female after recovering a stolen pickup truck.

On April 12, 2019, SADCRT with the assistance of the RCMP Auto Theft Unit, Grand Prairie Crime Reduction Unit and Sylvan Lake RCMP were able to locate a stolen pickup truck driven by the suspect near Banff, Alta.

Both suspects were arrested at a hotel in Sylvan Lake later that day following an illegal transaction regarding the sale of the stolen pickup truck. Upon the arrest, an undisclosed amount of cash and methamphetamine were also seized.

A 33-year-old male of no fix address and a 22-year-old female of Stettler were charged with five Criminal Code offences:

  • Trafficking property obtained by crime
  • Fraudulent concealment
  • Defraud a victim of a value exceeding over $5,000
  • Using a forged document as if it were genuine
  • Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine)

Beach was also charged with fail to comply with a recognizance.

Both of the accused were remanded into custody and will be appearing in Red Deer Provincial Court on April 23, 2019.

"The general population should be cautious when purchasing items from unknown individuals," says Cst. Mutch of the Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Team. "When an item is selling for much less then it's actual value, then it might be too good to be true. Buyers are asked to obtain as much information about the item before you purchase, because the item you are purchasing may be stolen."
