Sandy Cove man charged for distributing cannabis to local youth

In November, 2019, Glovertown RCMP received a complaint from residents of the Eastport Peninsula regarding the sale of cannabis in their area. Police investigation revealed that a man had been supplying cannabis to local youth.

On December 19, 2019, a 29-year-old man from the Town of Sandy Cove was charged with selling or otherwise supplying cannabis to a person under 19 years of age under the Newfoundland and Labrador Cannabis Control Act.

The man is set to appear in court at a later date.

Police advise it is illegal to supply cannabis to anyone under the age of 19 years and to distribute cannabis without proper permits and/or authorization.
