Rocky Mountain House RCMP lay charges following fatal hit & run

The RCMP have laid charges against an adult female following a collision, which left one man deceased.

On July 29, 2019 at 6:32 a.m., the Rocky Mountain House RCMP received a complaint of a male in the ditch on the Sunchild Road. RCMP located the male, who was confirmed to be deceased. An abandoned vehicle was located nearby and seized for investigation. The RCMP collision analyst and Red Deer RCMP Forensic Identification Section attended to conduct a scene examination.

Several interviews were conducted and a suspect was identified. Investigation revealed that the man was riding his bicycle when he was struck by the vehicle. It is believed that the collision occurred sometime before midnight on July 28.

A 31-year-old female has been charged criminally with failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing the death of 33-year-old Andrew Frencheater. The female has also been charged under the Traffic Safety Act.

A judicial interim hearing has been held, and the offender has been released on a Recognizance with conditions. Her first appearance in provincial court in Rocky Mountain House is August 7, 2019 at 10 a.m.
