Red Deer RCMP arrest three in drug trafficking operation

An investigation by the Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section led to the arrest of three people and the seizure of drugs and cash.

Between August 13 and August 28, 2019, police conducted an investigation into a drug trafficking operation in Red Deer. On August 28, search warrants were executed at three properties in Red Deer. As a result of that search warrant, police seized:

  • 1,009 grams of cocaine
  • 429 grams of methamphetamine
  • 3,521 fentanyl tablets, weighing in excess of 2.1 kilograms
  • 681 grams of cutting agent
  • 360 grams of an unconfirmed substance
  • $82,075 in Canadian Currency
  • Five vehicles

"This is an extremely significant drug seizure for our community, and the largest Fentanyl seizure we've seen in Red Deer's history," said Superintendent Grobmeier, Officer in Charge of the Red Deer detachment. "Through this investigation, we have disrupted the flow of dangerous and illicit drugs in our community. And let this serve as a reminder to traffickers in our community - that we will continue to work tirelessly to root out this illegal activity."

As a result of this investigation, three individuals were arrested and 22 Criminal Code and Controlled Drug and Substances Act charges were laid:

Raymond Tyrell Brown (26) of the greater Vancouver area, British Columbia has been charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x4)
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Failure to comply with recognizance (x4)

Raymond Brown remains in custody and will appear in provincial court in Red Deer on September 23, 2019.

George Deighton (25) of the greater Vancouver area, British Columbia has been charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x4)
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Henry Ruttle (25) of the greater Vancouver area, British Columbia has been charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x4)
  • Possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

George Deighton and Henry Ruttle have been released on bail and will appear in provincial court on September 26, 2019.
