RCMP respond to overturned canoe in Gosling Lake; two women rescued

On Friday, July 26, 2019 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP received a report that a canoe had overturned in Gosling Lake, located approximately 16 km outside of Happy Valley-Goose Bay.

RCMP police officers along with Happy Valley-Goose Bay Ground Search and Rescue, responded and found two women, both wearing lifejackets, in the water and unable to get back in their overturned canoe.

An RCMP officer paddled out in a kayak to confirm the women's condition and waited with them until HVGB Ground Search and Rescue boats arrived to bring them back to land. Both women were transported to Labrador Grenfell Health, treated and later released.
