RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigating a homicide – Update – Charges laid

The RCMP have laid charges in relation to a homicide investigation, which was launched on Nov. 17, 2019, following the discovery of a deceased female on Range Road 274.

A 36-year-old male of Spruce Grove has been charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of Saladina Vivancos.

A judicial interim release hearing has been held, and he remains in custody. He is scheduled to attend court in Stony Plain on Nov. 27, 2019.

RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigating a homicide

On Nov. 17, at about 1:30 a.m. the Parkland RCMP responded to Township Road 532A and Range Road 274, just north of Highway 16, to assist EMS with a complaint of a female in medical distress. On scene, it was determined that the female was deceased.

The RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) responded to investigate with the assistance of Parkland RCMP Serious Crimes Unit, Forensic Identification Section and Police Dog Services.

This morning, an autopsy was conducted at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton. The manner of death is deemed to be a homicide. The deceased female has been identified as 33-year-old Saladina Vivancos.
