Police reaching out to public following sexual assault incident

Police have charged a man with sexual assault following three incidents that occurred in Greenwood and are reaching out to the public in the event there are additional victims.

On December 6, employees of a military base were at a holiday function at a community facility in Greenwood. During the event, two women came forward to report that they had been sexually assaulted by another employee shortly after midnight. The incidents were reported to the RCMP on December 8. Police arrested the suspect in Greenwood without incident on December 9. The suspect was released on conditions to have no contact with the victims, and was given a court date of February 4, 2020 in Kentville Provincial Court.

On December 11, an additional victim came forward to police indicating that she also had been sexually assaulted by the suspect at the same function on December 6. The suspect was arrested that day in relation to this incident and was released on additional conditions to have no contact with the third victim. All victims have been provided with support from Victim Services.

Mark Richard Beres, 44, of Greenwood is charged with three counts of Sexual Assault in relation to the incidents.
