News release

On the evening of April 5, 2019, Bay Roberts RCMP were patrolling North River when the officer came across an ATV being operated on the main road.

The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the operator was only 14 years old. The parent of the child was called to the scene and ticketed for allowing their child to operate the ATV while under the legal operating age. The ATV was removed from the scene and returned to the parents.

Bay Roberts RCMP reminds parents it is their responsibility to ensure their children are abiding by the law when operating ATVs. ATVs are not to be operated by youth under 16 years of age, unless accompanied by an adult who is insured, and are not allowed to be driven on the roadway.
