On October 21, 2019 the Pangnirtung RCMP were called to several reports of shots fired within the community. They responded swiftly, ensured public safety, and apprehended the suspect.
27 year old Jessica Akpalialuk of Pangnirtung, Nunavut was arrested and is now charged with recklessly discharging a firearm along with several other firearms related offenses including unsafe storage. Akpalialuk appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody until her next scheduled court appearance on November 5, 2019 in Iqaluit, NU.
