Okotoks RCMP on scene of single vehicle collision Highway 2A - Update

Traffic is no longer being re-routed on Highway 2A northbound near Okotoks.

At approximately 2:30 a.m., Okotoks RCMP responded to a report of an SUV driving southbound into traffic in the northbound lane of Highway 2A near Okotoks.

Police were en route when a second call was received indicating that the SUV had rolled over into the median on Highway 2A. The SUV did not collide with any other vehicles.

The 40-year-old lone male occupant from Calgary was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Okotoks RCMP and a RCMP Collision analyst remained on scene until 9:30 a.m. investigating. Speed of the vehicle has been determined a factor at this time, and the investigation continues.

The name of the deceased will not be released, and no further updates are anticipated.

Okotoks RCMP are currently on scene of a single vehicle rollover that occurred on the northbound lane heading out of Okotoks.

Northbound traffic is currently being re-routed at three intersections:

  • Northridge Drive and Milligan Drive
  • Northridge Drive and Banister Gate
  • Highway 2A and 338 Avenue

Motorists are asked to avoid the area or expect delays. Please drive accordingly, and adhere to the re-routing from our members on scene.
