January 6, 2019
Dieppe, New Brunswick

News release

The RCMP New Brunswick Major Crime Unit and Codiac Regional RCMP are continuing to investigate a single motor vehicle crash where the occupant of the vehicle took actions threatening first responders who attended the crash scene. In response to her actions, an RCMP member discharged their firearm at the suspect during the incident.

The 25-year-old woman from Nova Scotia was taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. There were no other injuries to public or first responders.

At the request of the New Brunswick RCMP, and as a matter of standard practice related to serious incidents, the Nova Scotia Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT), an independent agency, will conduct a review of police actions in response to the incident.

Motorists are advised that the area around the incident is expected to remain closed to traffic for most of Sunday.
