Melville RCMP: Man charged with uttering threats and personating a peace officer on social media

On August 15, 2019, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Melville RCMP received complaints about racist and threatening comments made on Facebook by an individual claiming to be an RCMP officer.

As police investigated the context of the Facebook interactions, it was determined that making these comments constituted uttering threats of bodily harm and personation of a peace officer.

Patrick Kuhns of Kelliher, SK, was arrested without incident on August 15, 2019, and is facing the following charges under the Criminal Code:

  • Uttering threats, Section 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
  • Personating a peace officer, Section 130 of the Criminal Code.

Kuhns is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Melville Provincial Court on September 16, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.

Saskatchewan RCMP would like to thank the members of the public who reported these comments to the RCMP.

Saskatchewan RCMP takes these types of threats very seriously.
