Man facing impaired charges following two-vehicle collision

At 6:45 p.m. last evening, Kings District RCMP responded to a two-vehicle on English Mountain Rd. in Coldbrook. Police arrived on scene and located an injured man trapped in a damaged truck and a second truck was on fire. The injured man was the driver and lone occupant of the damaged truck.

The driver of the truck on fire was located nearby and was showing signs of impairment. After being assessed by EHS, the driver failed the Roadside Screening Device Test. He was transported to New Minas Detachment to provide further breath samples.

The 28-year-old man from Cambridge is facing charges of Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm and Operation of a Conveyance with a Blood Alcohol Level Over 80 mg% Causing Bodily Harm. He is scheduled to appear in Kentville Provincial Court on October 8, 2019 at 9:30 a.m.

An RCMP Collision Analyst was called to examine the scene, and as a result, English Mountain Rd. was closed for several hours but has since re-opened.

The injured man was transported to Valley Regional Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
