On August 26, 2019, just after midnight, Bay St. George RCMP received a report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway, near Flat Bay.
Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle in the ditch. The driver, a 38-year-old man from Nova Scotia, showed signs of alcohol impairment. Police issued a demand for a roadside screening device and the driver provided a sample that registered a failure.
The driver was taken via ambulance for treatment of injuries. A blood demand was issued and samples were obtained.
The driver is set to attend court on January 27, 2019, to face charges of impaired driving.
